Can’t believe I missed this earlier.
(Previous coverage / twitter list.)On the one hand it proves that police officers have human emotions. On the other hand it also proves that they regularly suppress those emotions and follow orders indiscriminately. Saying, “Sorry we maced you, I don’t understand why we’re being ordered to do this” doesn’t actually make up for carrying out those orders.
I should have just gone to bed but I couldn’t keep myself from commenting. Not all police officers are bad. We nearly worshiped the ground NYPD walked on after 9/11 but we’re ready to spit in their faces for this. Not all police officers are drones carrying out orders either. Believe it or not, but many police officers live pretty tough lives and I’d say the majority don’t go out each morning thinking about ways to fuck over people. Does our criminal justice system have problems? You bet it does but I can guarantee you that there isn’t a class of people deliberately looking to screw others over, despite their options. What options do they have?
